Hurricanes: destructive, but useful

From a human/infrastructure centered perspective, hurricanes are bad things. They cause a lot of damage, people get hurt (or die), and the worst hit areas can be all but shut down, sometimes for days, because of flooding and power loss. But, foir all the destructiuon they cause, they can also be beneficial. Julia Whitty highlights a few good things about hurricanes in her post, “Five Good Things About A Hurricane.”
